ATC Automatic Tool Changer for CNC Routers

ATC stands for Automatic Tool Changer. It allows a CNC machine to change cutting tools automatically according to the CNC program, without requiring the operator to replace each tool manually.

How does an ATC system work?

The CNC machine is equipped with an ATC spindle, tool holders and a tool magazine. Each tool has an assigned number and magazine position.

When the program requests another tool, the machine returns the current holder, collects the required tool and continues machining. The system can also work with a tool-length sensor to establish the correct height for each tool.
