A broken cutting tool, power failure or emergency stop does not necessarily mean that the workpiece is lost. In many cases, machining can be resumed once the cause has been corrected, provided that the workpiece position and work zero point remain accurate.
Common causes of interruption
-
a broken or excessively worn tool,
-
power failure,
-
emergency stop activation,
-
loss of air pressure,
-
a drive or control-system fault,
-
unsuitable cutting parameters.
What should you do first?
Stop the machine safely and identify the cause. Before resuming the program, inspect the tool, workholding, workpiece position and overall machine condition.
Never restart automatically without checking the setup. The workpiece may have moved, the tool may still be inside the material or the reference position may have been lost.
Resuming with the CNC controller
Selected RichAuto control systems allow machining to continue from a saved breakpoint, program line or selected position. The available functions and procedure depend on the controller model and machine configuration.
Before resuming, verify:
-
the work zero point,
-
tool number and tool length,
-
a safe Z-axis position,
-
the selected program and restart point,
-
a safe approach path into the material.
If you are unsure, do not start the program. Contact our technical support and provide the machine model, controller type, cause of the interruption and current machine position.
