Choosing a CNC router should begin with the materials, dimensions and products you intend to machine—not simply with the price or spindle power. The right configuration will provide the performance and accuracy you need without unnecessary equipment or expense.

Which materials will you machine?

CNC routers are commonly used for wood, MDF, plywood, plastics, composites, foam and non-ferrous metals. Aluminium and other demanding materials require a sufficiently rigid machine, the correct spindle, suitable cutting tools and properly selected cutting parameters.

When requesting a recommendation, specify the material, its thickness, the required depth of cut and the expected surface quality.

What working area do you need?

The working area should accommodate the largest parts you intend to produce. You should also consider the space required for loading material, machine access, extraction equipment, vacuum pumps and the electrical cabinet.

A more powerful spindle does not automatically produce better results. The correct choice depends on the material, tool diameter, cutting depth and required productivity.

Smaller spindles are suitable for engraving and lighter machining. More powerful spindles are appropriate for larger tools, demanding materials and regular production. Automatic tool changing requires a compatible ATC spindle and tool magazine.

How will the material be secured?

Smaller workpieces can be held with clamps or T-slots. A vacuum table is more efficient for full sheets and repetitive production. Small or porous parts may require a combination of vacuum and mechanical workholding.
